Norma Rae Lewis Christensen

Obituary Condolences

Mar. 24, 1923 - Mar. 9, 2014
Heber City, UT-Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend, Norma Christensen, 90, passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 9, 2014, at her home in Lake Creek surrounded by her loving family.
Norma was born on March 24, 1923, in Kamas, Utah, to Joseph Elmer and Mary Vernie Moon Lewis. She spent her childhood years in Kamas before moving to Heber during her teenage years where she attended Wasatch High School. She married her sweetheart, Lamar Christensen, on June 8, 1940, in Provo, Utah. They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple September 12, 1950. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served faithfully in various callings.
Some of Grandma's greatest loves of her life, besides her family, were gardening and working in the yard, where she took great pride in enhancing the beauty of nature; softball and bowling; beautiful, exotic birds, as well as many kinds of animals, especially horses and her beloved dog and loyal companion, Annie. She also loved riding bikes up until just a few years ago.
Norma was a very dedicated wife and mother. She spent many hours working alongside Lamar on the farm, in the fields and on the racetracks, where they enjoyed great success with their Quarter horses in many championship shows and performances.
Norma's most valued moments were spent with her children and grandchildren, cheering on and supporting them in all of their activities. She was an avid Utah Jazz fan and loved watching the games with her family.
Mom was a shining example of unconditional love, reverent faith, honesty and beauty, both inside and out, that will be cherished forever by all those who knew and loved her. She was a very classy lady; loving nice clothes, nice cars and beautiful jewelry.
Norma is survived by her children: Jerry and Carolyn Christensen, Marcia and Bud Remund, and daughter-in-law, Barbara Christensen; 10 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren (with three more great-great-grandchildren who are getting to know their great-great-grandmother before they arrive in the loving arms of their parents); brothers: Radley (Nancy) Lewis, Warren (Beverly) Lewis, Brent (Diane) Lewis; brother-in-law, Russell Christensen, and sister-in-law, Phyllis Christensen.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lamar Christensen; son, Dennis Christensen, grandson, Billy Chris Remund, brothers: Phillip, Bill, Boyd, Max; and sister, Beverly.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 - 1:00 PM in the Heber LDS East Stake Center, 2395 South Mill Road, Heber City. Friends and family may gather to pay condolences at the LDS Church on Friday, March 14, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, and on Saturday, from 11:00 - 12:30 PM preceding the funeral services, both at the LDS Church.
