Arthur Robert Perschon Obituary
Arthur Robert Perschon
After a long life of love, devotion, and good humor, Robert Perschon passed away on the first day of spring, March 20, 2014, at the age of 91. He was born July 19, 1922 in Salt Lake City to Arthur H. Perschon and Elizabeth Margaret Giersch. He married his eternal "sweetheart" Muriel on August 21, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised 7 children and a Native American son. His family was his greatest love and source of devotion. Bob graduated from the University of Utah with an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering and his masters' degree in chemistry and spent time in Oakridge, Tennessee helping develop the atomic bomb. He worked for nearly 20 years at Kennecott and also as a real estate agent. He had an amazing work ethic. He always grew beautiful gardens and loved being outside. One of his greatest loves was fishing. He spent many hours fishing with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Bob had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a joke for every occasion. Everyone who met him loved him instantly. He served an LDS mission in Czechoslovakia and Germany. He gave a lifetime of devoted church service including a mission to Florida with his wife and many years as a temple worker. He especially loved teaching and working with young people.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur H. Perschon and Elizabeth Margaret Giersch, and two sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) Speirs and June Becar, and three grandsons, Robert and Jefferson Verhaaren and Michael Harline. He is survived by Muriel C. Perschon, his sweetheart and wife of 61 years, and children Laurel Verhaaren (Richard), Brent Perschon (Rinda), Ann Van Dyke (Randy), Jean Perschon (LaVar Harline), Kay Tuttle (Tom), Barbara Loosli (Joel), Sharon Spencer (Terry), and Stanley Singer, 34 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren (soon to be 44).
