1924 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
John Platis
1924 ~ 2014
Price/Salt Lake City, UT-John Platis, our loving and loved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather has gone fishing. Pappoo passed away peacefully March 26, 2014 at the age of 89, surrounded by his family and an immense feeling of love.
He was born August 3, 1924 in Price, Utah, the third of 13 children to Gust and Matilda Hvala Platis.
John is our family patriarch and he taught us the importance of family, education, the outdoors, and to love life. He taught us through his words and, most of all, through his actions. He honored his home, Carbon County where he was born, married, and owned The Century Café, with his wife for 35 years. John served his country and mankind with loyalty, love and a zest for life!
John is survived by his wife, Sylvia, his darling, for 65 years and lives on, through her, his daughters, Connie and Gina, his sons, Billy and Ron, his grandchildren, Hilary, Johnny, Anthony, Natalie and April and his great grandchildren, Bennett and Stella. His brothers and sisters, Chris (Norma), Tom (Helen), Paul (Pauline), Dean (Jean), Vange (Steve), Connie (Dick), Mary (Ron), and Paulette; and many other loving Platis and Liapis family members. We love you, Pappoo! We will miss you more than you know!
Preceded in death by parents, his brothers and sisters, George, Nick, Bessie and Helen.
