Ruth Ericksen Wagstaff

1922 - 2014 Obituary Condolences Flowers
Ruth Ericksen Wagstaff
June 16, 1922 ~ April 8, 2014
Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Ruth Ericksen Wagstaff, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. She was born in Ephraim, Utah to Leo Henry and Caroline Lurean Whitlock Ericksen on June 16, 1922. She earned an Associate degree from Snow College.
Ruth married David B. Wagstaff in December of 1945 in the Manti LDS Temple. Dave and Ruth spent 63 wonderful years together before Dave's passing on April 14, 2009.
She worked at Hill Air Force Base during World War II and later worked at the Internal Revenue Service, but her family was the center of her life.
Mom was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In her empty nest years she looked forward to her weekly "temple day" with her friends. She was an avid attendee of Relief Society Homemaking meetings, and enjoyed every craft project conceivable, many of which decorated her home, with the overflow being gifted to her children. She had a strong testimony of the gospel, read her scriptures and wrote in her journal daily, and contributed her talents generously by making items for the LDS Humanitarian Center. She also loved every job she held in the church as long as it was as a secretary.
Her favorite pastime was reading. She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, quilting, ceramics, and sewing.
Visitors never left her house empty-handed.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Sandy (Joseph) Adams, Centerville; son, Boyd (Kimerly) Wagstaff, Salt Lake City; 12 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, and a brother.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Waterfall Canyon Ward, 3254 Polk Ave, Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 1780 East 3300 South, Salt Lake City.
In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the LDS Humanitarian Fund.
