John D. Durrant Obituary
John D. Durrant
1922-2014
To all who knew him, he was a man of few words, a dry wit, with a god given talent in the vegetable garden. John Durrant left this world on his own terms at the young age of 91 ¾ on Thursday April 24, 2014.
He was born in Wisconsin on August 2, 1922. He married Katherine DePasquale on March 4, 1946. He was a veteran of WWII, having received the American Campaign Medal and WWII Victory Medal. John retired after a long career with Christensen Diamond Products, was an active member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, and the 49'ers Club. He was also an avid golfer, a gardener, a straight-faced jokester, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He will be remembered with a smile by all who knew him, and will live on through his son John W. (Eileen) Durrant of Dallas, TX; daughter, Marie Taggart of Sandy, UT; and his grandchildren Cindy Durrant, John M. (Michelle) Durrant, Jessica Taggart, and soon-to-arrive great-grandson Durrant. As well as his brother-in-law Louie DePasquale. He is together again with his wife of 66 years, Katherine, who passed away in May of 2012. She always said that their warranty had expired, and each day after that was a gift. Behave you two and try to stay out of trouble.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 2335 Redondo Avenue Salt Lake City, UT. A private inurnment will be held at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Arrangements entrusted to Starks Funeral Parlor. Online Condolences may be offered at www.starksfuneral.com
