Leo Lamar Holmes
1930 ~ 2014
Leo Lamar Holmes was born June 10, 1930 in Springville, UT to Frank Leo Holmes and Norma Marie Phillips. Lamar passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2014. Lamar was surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife Alice Kristal Holmes, his brother Glenn Holmes, his two sisters, Della Mae MacGregor, Carol Masters, and six daughters, Kristene Poulsen (Craig), Leslie Coppin (Christopher), Diane Wilsted (Neal K.) Kaylyn Fletcher (Paul), Lisa Gifford (Derek), Jennifer Rich (Paul), 24 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.
Lamar served honorably in the Utah National Guard and served a Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Southern California. He was married and sealed to Alice Kristal on August 22, 1952, in the Salt Lake City Utah Temple.
Lamar worked for the Sherwin-Williams Paint Co. for 44 years. He started working part time sweeping the floors at night and finished as one of the top Regional Managers. His region was the Rocky Mountains. Lamar built up the Region, and when he finally retired, it took three managers to replace him.
Lamar was a devoted and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved reading the Book of Mormon and his time serving in the Denver Temple.
Lamar is greatly loved and will be missed by many. Funeral services will be held on Friday June 6, 2014 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Draper UT, 272 E. Traverse Ridge Drive, 84020 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the funeral services. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, UT.
