Salt Lake City, UT-Glyde Gleave Whitney returned home to our Heavenly Father and was reunited with her eternal sweetheart on June 9th 2014 at the age of 90. There she was greeted by her two sons, Craig and Grayson along with family and friends waiting with open loving arms.
She was born March 17, 1924 to LeRoy and Ila Gleave in the small town of Annabelle, Utah. She married Jim Whitney, her lifelong sweetheart of 64 years in the St. George LDS Temple on June 6th, 1946.
Glyde was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was the Relief Society President for many years where she loved the closeness of her special sisters.
Never has there been a more giving, caring and loving mother that saw the good qualities in everyone and the beauty in everything.
She is survived by her two sons, James Kay (Julie) of Meridian, Idaho; Scott (Nancy) of Salt Lake City; her brother Keith (Barbara) of St George, Utah; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her first great great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her two sons, Grayson Gleave and Craig LeRoy; her father and mother, LeRoy and Ila Gleave; and two brothers.
The family would like to especially thank the staff and friends at Carrington Court for their kind, unselfish love and compassion in caring for our mom.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 17th at 11:00am at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary 3401 S Highland Drive Salt Lake City. Friends and family are welcome to visit with our family on Monday June 16th from 6 to 8:00pm and Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 am prior to services. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
