Erma M. Bentley passed away unexpectedly from a cerebral hemorrhage on June 13, 2014. She was born on May 27, 1932 in Martinsburg, West Virginia, to Dorsey Scott Decker and Virginia Anna Moyers Decker, the 6th of 11 children. She attended Martinsburg High School and moved to Baltimore where she met her husband of 59 years, William C. Bentley, Jr. They married and lived in Hagerstown, Maryland. In 1965, they moved to East Millcreek, Utah where they lived until moving to South Jordan in 2004.
Erma was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Relief Society Counselor, Primary Teacher, Ward Librarian, Visiting Teaching Supervisor, Nursery Leader, Den Mother, and Choir Member.
She is survived by her husband William C. Bentley, Jr.; sons Charles (Elvia) and Stephen (Jennifer); grandchildren Felisha Harrison (Collin), Stephanie Kinyon (Robbie), Michael Bentley, and Jackson Bentley-Rupp; great-grandchildren Sophia and Luke Harrison; sister Betty Woodfin; and brother Glen Decker.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the River Ridge 7th Ward Chapel, 10124 South 1300 West, South Jordan, Utah. Viewings will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from 6:00-7:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 South), South Jordan, Utah and on Wednesday from 12:00-12:45 pm at the church. Interment at South Jordan City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to LDS Humanitarian Services. Online condolences may be shared at www.jenkins-soffe.com.
