Helen Ruth Hadley|
April 20, 1926 - June 21, 2014
Helen Ruth Hadley, daughter of William and Emma Deeg Richmond from Pocatello, Idaho, departed this earth peacefully in the care of her loving family, "Sunrise Senior Living" and "Inspiration Hospice."
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Russell J. Hadley, and her siblings, Dan, Frances, and Jim.
Helen is survived by her six children, Douglas (Maxine), Paul (Jackie), James (Bonnie), Mary (Larry) Knapp, William, Russell, and her beloved grandchildren, Michael (Amy), Daniel (Lisa), James, Kelley, Patrick (Karen), Laura (Michael), Sean, Jenna, and great grandchildren, Jack, Ryan, Daniel, Henry, Lars, and Maud.
Helen was a strong woman of great faith in God and very active in the St. Ambrose parish. She raised six children while working and attending the U of U to receive her Master of Social Work degree. Helen instilled faith, love, and compassion in her children, as well as a respect for education and love of music, arts, and sports. Helen served as Guidance Counselor in the Granite School District until retirement. She traveled in her retirement years with friends and siblings. England, Scotland, Ireland, Russia, Alaska, Baltimore, and Hawaii were a few of her destinations.
Helen was an accomplished pianist from a young age. In retirement, she returned to classical piano lessons to expand her artistic skills. Her love of music was evident in seasonal Utah Symphony and Opera Tickets and the many cultural events she attended.
Helen's legacy is the dozens of adults whom she taught to read and the hundreds of elementary students she nurtured as Guidance Counselor. She volunteered at the library, hospitals, Legal-Aid and the Senior Center. Awards fill a box, which she humbly kept stored away. She delighted in a lovely yard and garden. Helen treated everyone she ever met like royalty.
