James Edward Kidd

1922 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
James Edward Kidd
1922 - 2014
Our loving father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully June 23, 2014 at home with his family by his side. James was born October 12, 1922 in Garfield, Utah to Archibald James Kidd and Myrtle Lanore Crane. He married Dorothy Elizabeth Mitchell, December 9, 1946.
James was an avid steward of his community, government, and country. He participated in many civic and other government and service activities. His commitment to his country and patriotism included service during World War II in the United States Army from January 1943 to January 1946 in the Asiatic Theater of Operation with the 224th Antiaircraft Battalion. Post military service, he made a career as an airplane mechanic at Hill Air Force Base where he made many TDY trips to reclaim military aircraft that had gone down and return them back to Hill Air Force Base. After a 32 year career, he retired from Hill Air Force Base to spend time with his beloved wife, traveling to many places for military reunions and to enjoy his family. Even in his busiest times, he always enjoyed gardening, caring for animals on his mini farm and always made time for those he loved. As much as he was a patriot, he was even more a family man who dearly loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Even in his last moments the smallest children could always command the largest, most loving smile from him. He guided many lives with his knowledge and leadership. He was a kind, gentle person who invited everyone in, no matter who they were, and gave unconditionally to anyone who was in need, even if he didn't have much to give. He never spoke negatively of anyone and always encouraged, "No matter what you do, be the best you can be," and "Be proud of yourself and what you have become." He lived as a true example to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
You can be sure he is holding hands with Dot right now and again laughing with many family and friends who have gone before him. James is survived by: daughters, Julia Spanton (Dale), LaRae Jacobsen (John - deceased), Claudia Breyer, Janet Mayo (Richard); son, Randall E. Kidd; sisters, Norma Hodges, Earlene Parry (Leo), Marva Jensen (Harold), Kay Ubert and brother, Gary Kidd; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren, and many loving extended family members. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy E. Mitchell Kidd; son, Ronald Kidd; parents; brothers, Alva, Clair, Keith, Gail and sister, Joy Higham (Gary).
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 28th, 11:00 a.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 So. Redwood Rd. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Interment, Redwood Memorial Cemetery.
