Allen Goff Nielsen passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2014 in the home he loved with loved ones near him.
He was born in South Jordan on January 18, 1927 to Mary Goff and James Nielsen. He was the 7th of 8 children. He was proud of his pioneer heritage. Allen joined the Navy during World War II and served in the Pacific. He married Fern Gammon on December 10, 1947. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.
Allen was a patriot; a faithful member of the LDS Church. He served in many callings including Bishop. Allen and Fern served a stake mission and as ordinance workers in the Jordan River Temple. Allen was an awesome father, husband, grandfather, brother in law, uncle and friend. He worked many years in the dairy business and he loved his job. All who knew Allen loved him. Near the end of his life, he said, "I've had a fun life and met a lot of good people."
Allen is survived by wife, Fern; daughter, Alene (Mike) Sena; grandsons, Michael Sena and Steven (Jackie) Sena; granddaughter, Ashlie (Marc) Pritchett; great grandchildren, Carissa, Trenten, Cortnie, Joseph, Meggie, Brooklyn, Spencer and Bentley; great great grandson, Odin; many loved brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy; his parents, brother and sister in law, Joseph and Verbena; sisters and brothers in law, Beth and Julian, Clarissa and CW, Donna and Hugh, Geneva and Henry, Coral and Doug, Arlean and Neldon; brothers in law, Bud Gammon, Jim Huggard and Robert McStay.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the West Jordan 21st Ward, 7511 South 2700 West. Viewings will be held at the church on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services. Interment, South Jordan City Cemetery.
