A. Donald Tregaskis Obituary
1928 ~ 2014
Albert Donald Tregaskis died at home in Provo, Utah surrounded by family on Monday, July 21, 2014 at the age of 85. He was sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple to Gail Gray Tregaskis, who passed away over 7 years ago, so we are celebrating a glorious reunion. Don and Gail were blessed with four wonderful children that love them deeply: Brent Gray Tregaskis (Bonnie), Big Bear Lake, CA; Brian Gray Tregaskis (Rose), Cedar Hills, UT; Trinka Tregaskis Ashby (Steve), Beaverton, OR; and Mike Gray Tregaskis (Susan), Provo, UT.
Don was born in American Fork on October 23, 1928 to Lloyd and Donna Green Tregaskis. He had a younger brother (Glade) and sister (Sandra Berg, who preceded him in death). During his high school years, he took many opportunities to be involved with things like leadership and the American Fork High School Band. Don attended Brigham Young University and he always remained an avid fan. He graduated with a degree in Accounting. This background led him to enjoy an occupation as a State Farm Insurance agent. He was a very successful businessman with incredible work ethic and genuine care for his clients and employees. Don always had a great love for people, and people loved Don.
Don and Gail's amazing grandchildren include Brian's children Carson, Jessica, Natahlia, and Emily; Trinka's children Justin (Jenny), Nicole (Kyle), Nate, and Kyson; Mike's children Preston (Megan as of Aug. 3rd), Megan, Dylan, and Max. Brent blessed him with step-children Jenny Burbey (Geoff) and Brook Sutton (Bjorn) and great-grandchildren Siena, Sam, and Pearl. Each will have absolutely fond memories of spending time with Grandpa. They have felt his love and generosity.
He always took a great interest and wanted to know your story, and we all loved to hear his stories. Some of his favorite stories to tell were of days in Tahiti where he served an honorable mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His love for the gospel and his love for the Polynesians became an instrumental part of his life. How beautiful that he kept close relationships with these fine people and was able to travel back to the islands many times!
Throughout his life, Don served in many capacities as a faithful member of the Church. He was Stake Executive Secretary, a member of the Bishopric, a home teacher, a greeter, etc. We are grateful for this service and also full of gratitude for the way he served his country in Korea for the U. S. Army.
This was a truly compassionate man who taught by example as he visited others regularly, showing the importance of reaching out in friendship and taking care of people. Helping to take care of him during his last months was a great honor. In joyous celebration of a life well-lived, we invite all who knew him to pay their respects to this well-respected man.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 26th , 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Edgemont Seventh Ward church, 555 East 3230 North, Provo, Utah. Family and friends may come Friday evening, July 25th , from 6:00-8:00 p.m. to the viewing at Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center, Provo, Utah or to the church from 9:30-10:45 on Saturday, prior to the services.
