Ann Goulding Obituary
1936 ~ 2014
Our beloved Ann Marie Tetley Goulding peacefully left this Earth on August 9, 2014, returning to her Heavenly Father after battling chronic kidney failure. She was born in Los Angeles, California, to Louis and Thora Tetley on November 13, 1936.
A self-described tall, skinny redhead from Southern California, "Annie" had an innate talent and love for entertaining and making friends. She used this gift throughout her life to touch the lives of everyone she met along the way as a school classroom mother, Relief Society president, co-worker, LDS missionary, and neighbor. In fact, few things made her happier than having a house full of family and friends.
Ann married her sweetheart Calvin 57 years ago in the Los Angeles Temple, despite the fact that he used his business card to introduce himself the first time they met at church. Together they had many adventures, but raising eight kids may have been the biggest of them all. She truly enjoyed being a mother, sharing the importance of serving others and the value of a good sense of humor with all of her family. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day-Saints and loved teaching in her many church callings.
Ann loved going to the beach, savoring See's Chocolates, watching the Rose Parade, singing the BYU fight song to wake up her children, dancing the jitterbug to the swing bands at the Hollywood Bowl, seeing the leaves change color in the fall, serving missions in Uruguay and Mexico, and cheering on her cherished Los Angeles Dodgers. She took a lot of pride in the flowers in her yard, her family's singing, and the fact that she learned Spanish at age 65.
Ann is survived by her husband Calvin; her children Gayle (Garn) Christensen, Tami (Scott) Aaron, Mark (Nancy) Goulding, Gary (Joan) Goulding, Paul (Laura) Goulding, Brent (Sadie) Goulding, Ryan (Shandee) Goulding, and Laura (Bettina) Goulding; 35 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother; and many more family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Her funeral will take place Friday, August 15, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the LDS chapel on 1187 Draper Pkwy (12270 S). There will be a viewing Thursday, August 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary (8090 S. State) and again Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LDS Missionary Fund.
