Lillian Patricia Burke Obituary
May 22, 1925~August 16, 2014
Heber City, UT-Lillian Patricia Clegg Christiansen Burke passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2014 in the home of her son in Eagle Mountain, Utah. Pat was born May 22, 1925 on the front room floor of her Heber City home to Cardie and Marion Clegg.
Pat received a student Pulitzer Prize for her work as a journalist at Columbia University. She was a mother, copywriter, and then for 25 years helped children as a remedial reading teacher and school psychologist in the Los Angeles school district. She worked in parts of town that both had the greatest needs and were the most dangerous. Her bravery was remarkable and her sense of humor was even better.
When just one month old, her mother brought her up to the Trial Lake cabin in the Uintas. She became an avid hiker outdoors and around town. At the age of 87 she could walk anywhere in Heber because she knew if she got tired, someone would pick her up and take her home. Pat was beloved by all her children and all the people she knew.
Pat married Don Christiansen on March 18, 1946 in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. After Don passed on, Pat married James Burke on July 6, 1996. James died August 18, 2004. Pat is survived by her three sons Jon (Cristy) Eagle Mountain, UT; Chris (Marcia) Mesa, AZ; and Eric Pittsburg, CA; her brother Jerry Seattle, WA and sister Carol Johnson Salt Lake City, UT; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husbands, sister Marjorie Clegg Jarrett, and brother John Clegg.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 23, 2014 - 11:00 AM in the Heber LDS 4th Ward, 715 East 600 South, Heber City, UT. There will be a viewing on Saturday starting at 10:00 AM prior to the services. Interment will follow in the Logan City Cemetery. www.olpinhoopes.com
