Jaroldeen A. Edwards 1932 ~ 2008 Jaroldeen Asplund Edwards, 76, passed away Friday morning, May 30, 2008, after struggling valiantly with heart complications.Jaroldeen "Jerry" is survived by four of her five siblings, her 12 children, 76 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. Jerry was born on February 23, 1932, in Alberta, Canada to Julia Russell and Charles Owen Asplund. She received her B.A. in English Literature from BYU in 1954, the same year she married the love of her life, Weston Eyring Edwards. Jerry has vigorously served in every auxiliary of the LDS church, including a mission in Johannesburg, South Africa with her husband. After her youngest child started kindergarten, Jerry began writing and published 12 books. Her last published work, The Daffodil Principle, originally appeared more than 10 years ago as a story in her book Celebration!. Since that time, the story has gained international popularity and has been retold innumerable times with its simple message: Start today, one step at a time, to change your world. Vivacious and entertaining, Jerry was a popular speaker at the LDS Women's Conference and the National Mother of the Year awards ceremony. She was also awarded the Distinguished Emeritus Alumni Award from BYU in 2002. Of all her accomplishments, Jerry's proudest and greatest achievements have been in the lives of her family and friends. She had a unique gift to recognize and appreciate the talents of others and to make them feel loved and lifted. Her creative mind, kind heart, and brilliant smile allowed her to make everything from speaking engagements to church lessons to simple stories sparkle. Her generous heart filled her home with love, fun, family, friends, and an attitude that there was always room for one more. She leaves all her children and grandchildren with the knowledge that they are truly loved and that she loves the Lord. Funeral services for Jaroldeen will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at 3 p.m. in the Northfield 14th LDS Ward Chapel, 2195 North 100 East (Canyon Road), Pleasant Grove, Utah. Family and friends may call on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah and an additional viewing at the church on Monday from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. prior to services.
