Charlotte Hammond "That's my story & I'm stickin' to it!" Charlotte Hammond, 61, our loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend passed away peacefully at her home Monday morning, June 22, 2009 surrounded by her guardian angels. Charlotte Hammond was born January 22, 1948 in Salt Lake City to Herald and Mable Hammond. She was the firstborn of eight daughters and attended Highland High School and the University of Utah. Charlotte married Charles "Chuck" Brazier and later divorced. Married John McGrath also later divorced. She is the mother of three daughters, Tiffany, Tanjy, and Tawny Brazier and son Terrance McGrath. Adoring grandmother of Alexandria, Melanie, and Charley Anderson, Brianna Brazier, Whitney Hutchison and Dylan McGrath. Anyone who knew Charlotte could appreciate her "colorful" personality and incredible sense of humor. She lit up the room with her presence. Charlotte loved to read and debate any topic. Gifted in music, she played the piano and violin as well as danced. She enjoyed the Home Shopping Network so much that she kept them on speed dial. She could never pass up a beautiful piece of jewelry and her classy and fashionable style was second to none. Her love for her cats Foxy, Baby and Janie was immeasurable. She truly enjoyed the company of her mother and they often teased each other about who was taking care of whom. She is admired for her courage, strength and will to overcome a lifelong struggle with alcoholism stating, "I am determined to die sober for my kids." She fulfilled her lifetime dream of traveling to Africa with her mom and sisters to celebrate her 18 month milestone of being sober. This December she would have marked her fifth year of sobriety. Always caring and generous, after completing the program at Journey, she continued to work as a counselor to help others overcome their own struggles with addiction. She also traveled to Israel, Germany, Paris and New York. She is survived by her mother, Mable; sisters Nancy Kehl (Gary), Jody Morgan (Rob), Carolyn Weiss (Steven), Cary Fullerton (Steve), Tami Hammond, Jerilyn Brown (Mike), Heidi Pearce (Mark),and Akemi Meeks (John); daughters, Tiffany Anderson (Jon) of Vancouver, WA; Tanjy Brazier Torres (Louis) of Seabrook, TX; Tawny Hutchison of Federal Way, WA; son, Terrance McGrath of Twin Falls, ID, six grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her three cats.
