Aurelia S. Stewart

Obituary Condolences

Aurelia S. Stewart 1915 ~ 2009 Our beloved mother, Aurelia Stevens Stewart, passed from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Tuesday, July 7, 2009. Mom was born August 17, 1915, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Mary E. Rowley and Adoulpus D. Rogers and was later adopted and sealed to Mary Rowley Stevens and James Edward Stevens. She grew up in Blanding, Utah. After high school she moved to Provo, Utah, where she met Loris Stewart. They were married in December, 1933, and later sealed in the Salt Lake temple. In the early years of their marriage they lived in Provo, St. George, and Hurricane, Utah, as well as Blythe, California and Powell, Wyoming. They finally moved to Caldwell, Idaho, where they lived until their age prompted a move to a retirement home in Boise, Idaho. After Dad's death Mom moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, with her son, Wayne, until specialized care was required and she lived the rest of her life in a wonderful care center. Three of Mom's children, Wayne, Lorita and David were born in Provo, Utah. Her last child, Juli, was born in Caldwell, Idaho. Though there was distance in years between her children there was no distance in love and caring for each other and their parents. Mom spent most of her married life making a clean, comfortable home for her family. She was an active member of the LDS Church and spent many years directing drama productions with her ward members. She worked for a few years decorating department store windows in Caldwell and helping in the family music store. She also enjoyed volunteering at the hospital in Caldwell. Mom loved traveling and especially loved Spain. She loved nature especially flowers, clouds, mountains, the sky, trees and cats. She enjoyed and wrote poetry and was a voracious reader. Mom was a beautiful woman and remained that way all of her life. Our family would like to express our appreciation and love to her ward members both in Caldwell and Salt Lake City. We also express sincere gratitude to Nilsa Gomez and Mom's other care-givers at Christus St. Joseph Villa. She is survived by her children Wayne (Connie) Stewart, Lorita Vail, David (Izumi) Stewart and Juli (David) Kosta, 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loris Stewart, Ed Vail (son-in law), three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Though our mother has left us temporarily we know we will always feel her presence and love, and we will be a family forever. Services will be Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cottonwood 7th Ward Chapel, 5565 Neighbor Lane, Salt Lake City. A viewing will start at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Services are under the direction of Wasatch Lawn Mortuary. Interment: July 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell, Idaho.
