Deborah Grace O'Connor 11/14/1954 ~ 1/04/2010 Deborah Grace O'Connor, daughter of the late Gerald JosephO'Connor and Barbara Ruth Howard O'Connor, died unexpectedly at her home in Salt Lake City, Utah over New Year's weekend. She was born on November 14, 1954 in Brattleboro, Vermont. Debi attended Brattleboro public schools and graduated from Brattleboro Union High School in 1972. In June 1975, she received a Certificate in Nursing from Grace-New Haven School of Nursing in New Haven, Connecticut and began work at Yale-New Haven Hospital. After converting to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she moved to Salt Lake City to continue her life and career. In the spring of 1977, she packed her Toyota Corolla with her possessions and trekked west stopping at numerous LDS historical sites along the way. In Salt Lake City, she began work at the University of Utah Hospital where she held various positions for 32 years until her death. She worked in emergency medicine, the air service and, most proudly, in the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit. At the time of her death, she was a Compliance Officer in the University Health Care Compliance Office. In addition to her nursing certificate, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Westminster College in 1988 and a Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Utah in 1991. She attained professional certifications in Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), and Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ). Debi was an active member of the Butler Hill Chapel Ward in the LDS Church. She was an avid reader with an extensive network of friends with whom she shared her life. She leaves a brother, Roderick H. O'Connor and a sister-in-law, Kimberly Barnes-O'Connor, of Falls Church, Virginia, a niece, Taylor V. O'Connor, a student at the University of California-Santa Barbara, an aunt, Beulah Holden, of West Burke Vermont and numerous cousins. Her life will be celebrated at a funeral on Saturday, January 9th at 11:00 a.m. at the Butler Hill Chapel at 2695 E. 7000 S. There will be a viewing on Friday, January 8th at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday morning. Interment Mountain View Memorial Estates. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Brattleboro Area Drop In Center, PO Box 175, Brattleboro VT 05302 in memoriam to Deborah G. O'Connor.
