Cecil H Wilkinson Jr. 1930 ~ 2010 Avid reader, rock-hound, and collector of junk, Cecil H. (Bert) Wilkinson Jr., age 80, died after a lengthy illness on June 6, 2010, in Salt Lake City, Utah, leaving a long bucket list of projects not completed.Bert was born in Roosevelt, Utah, on May 26, 1930, to Cecil H. Wilkinson Sr. and Gladys Lambert Wilkinson. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in mining engineering from the University of Utah, and his work took him to various locations in California, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Moab, Utah. Bert is survived by his brother Donald Wilkinson (Lorna) and his sisters Judith Gerstner (Max) and Diana Wilkinson. He is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews who discovered early on that his gruff exterior hid a big soft heart. The family wishes to express gratitude to caring neighbors whose friendship and respect he cherished; to the staff of Avalon Health Care; and to the CVMU staff at the U of U Hospital, whose professionalism and sincere concern allowed Bert a peaceful and dignified passing. Graveside services will take place at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2010, with visitation at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
