Floyd Lyndsay Fonger Obituary
1947 ~ 2012
Our beloved brother, uncle and friend, Floyd Lyndsay Fonger, 65, passed away at his home in Provo, UT on August 12, 2012.
Floyd began his earthly journey March 20, 1947 in Salt Lake City, UT. He was the fourth of five children born to Elizabeth (Beth) Evans Fonger and Fred Richard Fonger. At his request, Floyd was baptized on February 2, 1980. He has been known to love coloring, swimming, bowling, dancing, horses, bike riding, and fishing with his father. He also had a great passion for going to the movies, pizza, hamburgers, french fries, ice cream and M & M's. Oh how he loved his Coke. He loved celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas. He liked to dress up for Halloween and enjoyed his birthday parties. He loved the gospel and enjoyed singing in the ward choir. His enthusiasm for the Special Olympics is evident by his many ribbons from bowling, running and swimming. He worked at North Eastern Services for 25 years. When they had a day off or holiday he was deeply disappointed. He loved all of his co-workers. When family members would take him out for lunch he was always anxious to get back to work at NES. Floyd loved everybody. He never met a stranger he didn't like. He especially loved Jenny White, Jayleyn Lopez, Simon Stonebreaker, Clark Nielson and hospice nurse Dana Mutch.
We will never forget the lingering of the Spirit when he would bless the food at family celebrations. Nobody left his presence without feeling better about themselves. His smile lit a room because he had the pure love of Christ. His family and friends are better for having known him.
He is survived by his sister, Kathleen (Jay) Christopher; brother, Robert (Denise) Fonger; sister-in-law, Shirley Fonger; 10 nieces and nephews who adored him. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and Fred (Hy). We can only imagine the wonderful reunion taking place in heaven.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 17, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at the Provo Young Single Adult 218th Ward, 1260 West 1150 North, Provo, UT. A viewing will be Friday at the church from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Elysian Burial Gardens.
