Jeffrey Thalman Obituary

1967 ~ 2012
Jeffrey Karl Thalman, 45, passed away on December 31st 2012 at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Jeff left us too soon, and will be deeply missed by all who loved him. We will greatly miss his amazing ability to light up any room he was in.
Jeff was born on May 28th, 1967, and was raised in Provo, Utah, by his parents, Karl and Carol Thalman, with his older sister, Joan. Jeff was a dynamic young man, adored by his family, friends, and many in the Provo community. He became an avid golfer at a young age, and quickly earned many accomplishments in the sport, including helping his team win three state championships at Provo's Timpview High School. Jeff then received a golf scholarship from the University of Utah, where he later graduated with a degree in business. He always taught others - yes, even in Provo - the importance of being a fan of the Utes. In the final months of his life, Jeff could be found at Rice Eccles stadium or the Huntsman center, cheering on his school's teams. Jeff was very successful in his business career, owning and operating The Recognition Source for many years. He spent time living in both Texas and Florida, before returning to Utah. In recent years, Jeff traveled frequently between Salt Lake City and Provo, to spend time with his parents and to help care for them. He had a great ability with landscaping, and took pride in keeping a pristine yard, and making sure that his parents' yard always looked the same. Jeff loved the outdoors. He loved soaking up the sun at the beach, playing sports, and fishing (often with his dad) at Strawberry Reservoir.
Jeff is survived by his parents, Karl and Carol Thalman of Provo, Utah; his sister, Joan (John Taylor) of Herriman, Utah; nephews Michael, Ryan, Travis, and Kyle; niece, Shannon; and many beloved friends and members of his extended family. He is preceded in death by his nephew, Brandon.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Condolences may be sent through his obituary at www.bergmortuary.com.

Today we all have taken a moment to remember our friend that was apart of the Florida Volleyball/Softball community. I have added a few pictures that have remained in our digital picture frames since the day they were taken many years ago. We will always remember him as a fun loving and kind person who looked out for his friends. Thank you for providing this opportunity to share our Jeff with your Jeff.

Very shocked by this. I googled his name and hope to find any info on my friend Jeff and found this obituary. Very shocked! To his family, I'm very sorry for your lost. There are a few people in this world who have hearts SO big and personalities SO grand that you can feel their energy before they enter the room--Jeff was one of those Few. Some of my greatest Provo memories have Jeff front and center in them. To Carl and Carol: I am so very sorry for your loss.

Jeff was always the sharpest guy in the room. I have great memories of Jeff when we played jr golf. Just hanging out with him was always enjoyable. Good guy. Tough to see him gone.

Jeff, you were a great friend to my brother. You will be missed by all.

What a loss! Jeff was one of a kind and was one of the warmest, funniest people I have ever known. When I was a senior at BYU we were playing in the Hunstman Center against Utah and on the first row behind the BYU team a Ute fan had his face and body painted in red and was screaming at me the entire game. As soon as the game was over (Utah won) I was walking up the tunnel to the locker room and that crazy fan tackled me and it was Jeff. He HATED BYU and every game we played against the U he was an insane fan but I loved the guy!

All there really is
The two of us
And we both know why we've come along
Nothing to explain
It's a part of us
To be found within a song

I will miss you. Our memories will last forever.

I spent a lot of time with Jeff in the years surrounding our time at the University of Utah. I did whatever I could to be near him and loved him so much. I've never met anyone so magnetic. Jeff and I (along with our friend Darcia) travelled to Spain together for a quarter abroad and then further explored several additional countries Europe. These are some of the best memories of my life. My deepest sympathies to his family and the multitudes of others that were touched by knowing Jeff. I'm a better person for knowing him.

I was very sad to hear of Jeff's passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to you, his family, who are experiencing his loss. I loved being a part of the 4075 North neighborhood growing up with Jeff. He always had fun ideas for things to do, accepted everyone and made sure that everyone was included in activities. He was extremely talented. I remember his wonderful smile and his dynamic charisma! Jeff, you will be missed by so many.

I am so sorry to hear about Jeff. He definitely left his mark on so many people. He made everyone feel like they were important and worthwhile, and he also had that Tom Sawyer talent of being able to make absolutely anything seem fun. The world will be a much more dull place without him in it. Peace and prayers to the family and farewell to a one of a kind. He will always be loved and he will never be forgotten.

He could bring energy into a room like no one else. We would always talk golf and he could make me laugh in an instant. My guess is he'll continue making others laugh on the other side.
