Phyllis Jacobsen Howard Obituary
1923 ~ 2013
Phyllis Jacobsen Howard, born in Salt Lake City, June 29, 1923, to Louis C. and Imogene Hendrickson Jacobsen, passed away January 9, 2013.
She lived her entire life in the Salt Lake Valley, graduating from West High. During World War II, she met and fell in love with a soldier, Ellis Asher Howard. Married July 1, 1943, they spent 53 years together before his passing in 1997.
Living first in Salt Lake, they moved to their newly built home in Magna in 1954, where she lived for the next 58 years. Together they raised seven children, Roger (Patricia), Judith (Harold) Obray, Wesley (Liz), Lugene Gabaldon, Rebecca (Patrick) Marshall, Sandra (John) Lachowsky and Colleen (Robert) Sorensen.
She is survived by her children, 30 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She leaves behind her sisters, Marjorie Jacobson and Lorraine Mace. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers, Melvin and Lowell.
An active member of the L.D.S. Church, she served in numerous positions.
Funeral services will be held at the Lake Ridge Ward building (3151 South 7700 West, Magna) Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home (4335 West 4100 South, WVC), and one hour before the service at the church.
