Sharilyn Stewart Dickson
"She Will Be Dearly Missed"
On February fourth, beloved wife and mother, Sharilyn Stewart Dickson peacefully passed away, as a result of the effects of Alzheimer's Disease. Shari was born in Salt Lake City on April 4, 1935 to DeVon Y. and Elizabeth (Beth) C. Stewart, and lived both in Hemet, California and Salt Lake City. She attended the University of Utah where she graduated in 1956 with the honors of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi in the field of Dietetics. Following graduation, she went to the Stanford University Hospitals in San Francisco, California to further study to become a registered dietician. She married Richard Dickson on April 28, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple, and had two sons, Stewart William, and David Robert. She also worked during the late sixties and early seventies as the County Dietician, where she created the menus for the Meals on Wheels program, making sure that they were both nutritious and savory. Shari was a member of the LDS church and served in various capacities. She loved to cook, and her specialty was desserts.
Shari is survived by her husband, Richard, her sons Stewart and David, and nine wonderful grandchildren, her brother William DeVon Stewart, and two sisters Suzanne Jean Fjeldsted and Betty Louise Draper. She was preceded in death by her father and mother.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 11, 2013 at 12 noon at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, where a visitation will be held from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Holladay Memorial Park. Online condolences may be made at
