1985 - 2013
Our beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson and friend, Alex Blaine Furness, passed away on March 2, 2013 in South Jordan, UT. He was born on April 12, 1985 in Murray, UT to Michael John and Kathleen Fisher Furness.
Alex was full of enthusiasm, fun and life. He loved to be with his family and friends and could talk to anyone. Alex had a passion for football and played it well. He played at Taylorsville High, Snow College, Los Medanos College and Southern Utah University. He received an Associate's Degree from Snow College.
We super love and miss you! We are so glad you found God before leaving this earth.
Alex is survived by his parents, brothers Eliot, Tyler (Kat), sisters Corilyn (Micah), Michelle (Ryan), grandparents Ephraim J. and Irene Furness, nephews Kobe, Eddie, Wyatt, nieces Ryen, Josie, Amelia, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by his brother Ryan, grandparents Blaine and Velma Fisher and his aunt Mary.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Cedar Breaks Ward, 5635 South 2200 West in Taylorsville. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens. Mike and Kathy - I was not able to make it today, but I wanted to let you know how sorry I am for your loss. I can't imagine how difficult this is to lose not one but two sons so young in their lives. I know they have been reunited with each other and their friend Jonas. I'm so sorry to hear about Alex. I can't imaginethe pain of losing my son. Eric is really disappointed that he could not attend today and was really sad to hear about Alex. He has great memories of Alex throughout school,football, skateboarding and wrestling in the back yard. Know that he is thinking of the family. I told him I would relay the message.

Well alex unfortunately I'm in program right now and I just had another friend die a day before you and my program said I could go to one or the other so I went to my other friends and it makes me feel realy bad but seeing her in the casket really messed me up and I don't think I can see one of my good friends in another casket especially a friend that I saw a year ago. So I just wanted to write you and let you know I love you man and I'll miss you and I hope your in a better place. My thoughts and prayer go out to you and your family.

Alex,
Words cannot describe the loss that is being felt by so many of us about this. You were more than a great friend to our family. Your family is like our family and we all love and miss you very much. I'll always remember growing up and all the sports teams, camping trips, boating weekends, house parties, backyard volleyball, night games in the circle, street hockey, and many other great times we had with you. Your friendship with James was something people should strive for in their friendships! It is comforting to know that you are being greeted by your brother Ryan, and that you two can once again share time together.
To the Furness family, I'm so sorry that this has happened and hope you know that your family is loved by a lot of people! Alex was a wonderful person and got along with many different types of people. It is a testiment to what a great family he grew up in. We are all here for you, just as you would be and have been for all of us.

Alex was always a kind and caring friend. Always willing to sit and talk of the days of little league, middle school, high school and even the college years. I know your in a better place Al. Alex, Man this news really broke my heart I had just spoke with you a few weeks ago and we had plans to get together. We always had the best of times in high school.
