George W. Chappell Obituary
"Tin Can Sailor"
Our father passed away at the age of 77 from heart complications on Friday, April 5, 2013.
Dad was born May 7, 1935 in Loa, Utah son of Harrison Pratt and Vanever May Coombs Chappell. He graduated from Wayne High School. He worked for the US Geological Survey, mapping the San Rafael Swell while he was a teenager. He served in the US Navy aboard a destroyer from 1957 to 1963. He met the love of his life, Arlene, and they married February 24, 1962. Dad worked at Kennecott Copper for over 30 years and retired as a foreman. "Bill" was an avid outdoorsman who loved his cars and 4-wheelers. He was an accomplished gardener and loved a good book. He found bluegrass music to be a great source of enjoyment. His wife, children and grandchildren were paramount in his life.
Being preceded in death by his beloved wife and daughter, they are now reunited. All who knew him will remember and miss him.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 11, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at the Sutherland Cemetery, Delta, Utah. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
