Venna Anderson Obituary

1920 - 2013
Our beautiful mother passed away peacefully on May 30 after spending the last several days of her life visiting, conversing and expressing her gratitude towards her wonderful family members and close friends. She was born in Ephraim, Ut. to Leora and Merrill Sorenson. She met her sweetheart while attending Snow College and married Wilbert H. Anderson on July 31, 1940. Their marriage was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple; they were married for 59 years until his death. They raised 7 wonderful children in the Sugarhouse area in SLC, all who went on to achieve great success in their lives. She loved each one of them dearly and was so proud of all of them. Venna worked for Safeway's and later as a dispatcher for the SLC Police Dept. Her and Dad both had many lifelong friends in the Police M.A.A. At the time of her death she was the oldest retiree from the SLC Police Dept. Together, they enjoyed traveling, camping, bowling, all holidays with the family and shared a deep love for nature's beauty. She was a huge fan of the Jazz and BYU and enjoyed all sports. In her later years, she enjoyed swimming aerobics and lunch with her lady friends and was a Daughter of the Utah Pioneers.
Mother was always thoughtful, appreciative, positive, proud, classy and a beautifully gracious lady. She always maintained a vigorous and active lifestyle, paired with a joyous and youthful outlook on life. Venna was always neat, meticulous and organized in all aspects of her life. She was a truly devoted wife and wonderful nurturing mother who offered unconditional love while teaching her children the importance of work ethic, integrity and family unity. She was a wonderful cook and devoted care giver and the most enjoyable days of her life included family gatherings. We are all so fortunate to have been loved by her, taught by her and touched by her. Our mother held our hands for only a short time but she will hold our hearts forever. Mom, we all love you so much and will miss you dearly!
Loving mother of James Lynn (Ema), Steven (Sherry), Ronald (Shannon), Karen (Dick) Duncan, Mary (Darrel) Stephens and Janet (Mark) Severson. Cherished Grandmother of 17, Great Grandmother of 33, Great-Great Grandmother of 2 with 2 more on the way! Dearest sister of Hoyle Sorenson and Ron Morgan. She was preceded in death by her Husband Willie, son David, daughter in law Barbara, her parents, and her sisters, Nedra and Dixie.
Friends and family are invited to attend the Funeral Service for Venna on Sat. June 8, 2013 at the Monument Park Ward, 2795 E. Crest View Dr. at 11:00 am. A viewing will be held on Fri. June 7, 2013 at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple from 6-8 pm and from 10:00-10:45 am on Sat. June 8, 2013 at the Ward. Interment to be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

Last time I was Venna, she was sweet and spry as ever! I can hardly believe she's gone. Such a sweet, wonderful woman. I am so glad that I got to know her a little. I love Jim and Ema and think of them as part of my family, so naturally I include Venna in that group! All our family's love and condolences go to the Anderson Family.

Oh how we loved your dear, sweet, beautiful mother. It was our pleasure to be her next door neighbor in the Presidential Club for a few short years and to be able to bask in her wonderful, upbeat, smiling presence. She was always a delight and always looked like she stepped out of a magazine ad in the best of taste. We always looked forward to our visits and will miss her so much. You have a great legacy. Bless you all.
