Mick Morris Obituary

1978 ~ 2013
A beloved father, Mick Richard Morris, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 03, 2013, in his home in Salt Lake City, at the young age of 35.
Mick was born on March 09, 1978, to Susan Patricia Morris and Richard Morris. He grew up in Salt Lake City spending much of his time with family and friends learning a deep respect and appreciation for music. By age 12 with help from his father Mick began to play the guitar. To continue with his love of music at age 17 Mick got his first job at the Heavy Metal Shop in Salt Lake. In 1997 Mick got his first break after auditioning and being accepted into the band Clear whom he toured with until 2000. It was then that Mick became the bass player for Eighteen Visions, with 18V he was able to tour the world and record five albums.
Following 18V Mick never was far from music, filling in with bands, touring as a tech, and working for multiple music labels. In March 2011, Mick got what he considered his greatest gift of all, his son Jude Ashton Morris. Mick spent his final years in Salt Lake City surrounded by family and friends.
He is survived by girlfriend Ashley Thewlis; son Jude Ashton Morris; father Richard Morris; two sisters Angela Hopkins, and Amanda Tuten; one brother Alex Morris; Niece and nephew Chelsea and Rulon Hopkins; many other aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by his mother Susan Patricia Morris and three of his grandparents.
Viewing will be held Friday June 07 from 6-8 p.m. and a funeral service will be held on Saturday June 08 at Lake Hills Cemetery (10055 South State Street) starting at 3 p.m. for family and close friends.

Dear Mick,

Thank you for being a part in my best teen days (mostly spent online though because I was such an introvert and lived on the other side of the globe from you). You made positive impacts on us, more than musically/ performance-wise, but how loving of a person/ teammate/ friend/ father you were. We loved you (even tho you never knew me). Best wishes to Ashley and Jude (I will quietly wish them well, won´t search them on social medias) and your families (:

Mick, I am truly sad you are gone. When I walked into Soundcheck Hollywood two years ago with my friends, I turned to my left and you smiled and welcomed us. It was the first (and sadly the last) time we met.

You were so down to earth to my friends and I. We took a picture while I thought "Hell yeah I met MickDeth!"

I wore a Beatles shirt. I knew you were a fan. I briefly got a glimpse of baby Jude and your love Ashley-Jade. It was beyond adorable.

Now you're watching over them and the rest of your loved ones.

I miss you.

Rest in peace, Mick.

Rest in peace our beloved Mick. You've lived an enviable life filled with passion, love, dignity and integrity. Although I have never met you in person, you're loved and respected from the bottom of my heart, I mean it.
Don't worry about your little man, your friends, family and fans are awesome, they are taking very good care of him! I believe you can see us from up there, somewhere.
May we all meet again one day.

You had an amazing gift of music & a lot of love for people. I've only met you twice through Eighteen Visions touring the UK. Each time I met you, you were so friendly & took the time to spend time with us fans. Even after Eighteen Visions split, you still made time for us fans. We've been there through your ups & downs as you have for us . I really admired you for your honesty & openness as it really did show us how much love you had for us all - family, friends & fans.

I am so sad & lost for words. Your spirit will always live on as Mick Morris & MickDeth. I'm also sad as I know you had so much more to give, you've been took from us all too soon.

My love, thoughts, prayers & support goes out to Ashley, Jude, Rick & family & friends. I am so sorry about your loss of a father, partner, son, brother, uncle & friend.

Forever rest in peace, Mick.

Just as any other night on the sunset strip I was just out looking to have a good time and listen to music. Little did I know that my life would change forever when I met my idol "Mickdeth" of 18 visions, but more importantly the one person who would support my musical career and dreams more than even I could.
Always giving my words of advice to stay strong and pursue the life everyone only dreams of. I swear to you I wont give up because you never gave up on me.
Love you man. Im saddened I never got to say that in person but Ill say it now. Thank you for everything youve done and will continue to do for me even from the other side.
Til we meet again my friend.
