Lillian Jannette Owen Richardson Burton

Lillian Jannette Owen Richardson Burton, 92, passed away June 16, 2013. Lillian was born November 16, 1920 in Salt Lake City, Utah to loving parents Thomas Joseph Owen and Jannett Adamson Grant. Lillian was proud to be born of Scottish and Welsh ancestry. Being a descendent of pioneers Lillian was a strong women. Having grown up during the Depression Lillian learned prudence and hard work. Lillian graduated from West High School in 1937. She continued her education at the University of Utah.
On March 1, 1940 Lillian married George Blair (Tubby) Richardson. He named her "Oscar" because he felt he had won an Oscar when they married. Lillian and Tubb were blessed with 3 daughters, Judith, Joan and Joy. She was a loving and conscientious mother. She was devoted to her girls and supported them and encouraged them to get a good education.
Lillian was a masterful gardener. Every plant she touched flourished. She loved her home and took pride in it and in her gardens. She enjoyed ceramics, knitting and crocheting.
Lillian was widowed at the young age of 49. She later married Dr. Marcus H. Burton. They traveled together and enjoyed life. In 1991 Lillian was again widowed and lived alone in her Fruit Heights home for many years. She has lived the past 2 years of her life at LifeCare of Bountiful, where she resided with both of her sweet sisters and was able to enjoy memories and companionship. Both sisters passed away within two weeks of each other at the end of 2012. Lillian grieved deeply after their deaths. She was the last surviving sibling.
Lillian was deeply loved by her grandchildren. She was known to them as "Mema" and "Bee". Lillian was always very proud of them and was always there to support and praise them.
Lillian was a charming elegant lady. She was well read and had a sharp mind. She was a great example to all of perseverance, courage and love. She will be cherished always by her family and friends.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Grant, Earl and LeRoy Owen and sisters Margaret Bates and Gladys Owen. She is also preceded by her daughter Joan Anderson and one grandson. Survived by daughters Judith Vergun and Joy Daynes (Randall), nine grandchildren and 26 ½ great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Lillian's dear Christ-like friends in Fruit Heights, especially Paulette and Kathy who loved and cared for her, also, all the staff at LifeCare who took care of her for her last years.
Funeral service will be Saturday June 22, 2013 at 12:00 noon at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple. Viewing at 10:45 to 11:45 AM. Interment at Salt Lake City Cemetery.
