1964 ~ 2013
Loving husband, father, son and friend passed away September 5, 2013. Carl was born August 8, 1964 to Floyd James Herlin and Della Faye McCleve. He and his family grew up in Kearns, Utah and attended Snow College. Carl was an avid sportsman, his favorite teams were the the L.A. Angels, New England Patriots and the Utah Utes.
Carl was a good listener and friend and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by children Kenneth Layne (Tamara), Peter Alen, and Elizabeth Faye, siblings Floyd James, Kendra Lynn, Robert Dee, Russell Keith and his ex-wife Jeannine.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 11th, 11a.m. at Westbrook 8th Ward, 4113 W. 6200 S. A viewing will be held Tuesday, Sept. 10th, 6-8p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd.

There are no words to adequately express the sorrow I feel at losing such a dear friend. Carl and I have known each other our entire lives. Both of us attended Primary, Mutual and Kearns High together. I have so many fond memories of this gentle teddy bear of a man. He often referred to himself as Forrest Gump and if you look at his kind and gentle ways, he was a lot like Forrest. Not an mean bone in his body. His love of sports was obvious to anyone who met him. I will forever miss him teasing me about my loyalty to the Dallas Cowboys. If there were more men like Carl Herlin, this world would be a much better place. To 'Forrest', you will forever hold a special place in my heart. From 'Jenny'.

Carl, you will be missed by so many people, but we know that you will be watching over your family and friends. Thank you for being our best man. We had some fun times and they will never be forgotten. The nightly runs to get slurpees and movies, the double dates and working together. I am glad that we were able to reconnect after years lost. I met Carl about 30 years ago at Snow College. We became friends and spent a lot of time on the ball fields. Carl was a great cheerleader and competitor. We lost touch after graduation and life took us in different directions but we were able to reconnect in the last 3 years. My condolences go out to Carl's family and friends. What a great friend. See you on the other side, Thanks for the memories bud, and live on Golden Eagles. There has got to e in Heaven.

To the Herlin Family,

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Carl was a good man with a great big heart! Besides trying to make everyone else smile, he was always willing to listen and sympathize with others. I'll never forget our times on the softball field, including the first time I met the Herlin family - while they were harassing me because I was on the "crappy" team! :) Thank goodness we had the opportunity to join forces a few years later and win the whole damn thing! :)-

I always knew when Carl as at the ball field. Whether he was umpiring, coaching or cheering for his boys. The Herlins were a big part and good friends to us at Kearns Pony. Carl, you will be missed.
