Stanley Jaques Rees

Morgan, UT-Stanley Jaques Rees, 58, passed away on October 14, 2013 at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah surrounded by his wife, family and dear friends. Stan died from complications due to liver failure while waiting for a transplant. He was born on June 23, 1955 in Ogden, Utah to Joseph Elliott Thackeray and Thelma Isabelle (Jaques) Rees.
Stan grew up in Morgan, Utah. He graduated from Morgan High School in 1973. After high school he furthered his education and played football at Snow College. He then served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in San Diego, California. Stan completed his bachelors degree in Education at Utah State University. Stan owned and operated Softmink, Inc. for 35 years where he raised quality dark mink. He served as Chairman of the board to American Legend Cooperative. He spent many years coaching youth in the community from Little League to Morgan High School to Weber State University. Stan served several years on the Morgan County School Board and also served as the Board President. He was always generous with his time and resources helping to build the Little League Park and the Wilkinson Complex.
Stan married Kendra Sue Tucker on July 20, 1978 for time and all eternity in the Ogden Utah Temple. Their love story has spanned 35 years and will continue throughout eternity. Stan was a loving, fun father who enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed sports, coaching, hunting and had a fun sense of humor. His favorite time of year was autumn. Stan served in many church callings working with the youth and serving in bishoprics and the high priest quorum. Stan always felt that his greatest accomplishment was his family.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Thelma Rees, and his brother Hal Rees.
Stan is survived by his spouse Kendra Sue of Morgan, Utah; his children, Justin (Kelly) Rees, Julianne (Trent) Landon of Lansing, Michigan, Tucker (Misha) Rees of Ogden, Jamison (Larissa) Rees, Michael Rees, Rebecca (Anthony) Nelson, Devin Rees; as well as his brothers, Paul (Leslie) Rees of Farmington, Scott (Kathy) Rees of Morgan, Roger (Janice) Rees of Lehi, Mark (Debbie) Rees of Morgan; and his grandchildren Ava, Anya, Adelyn, Jackson, Rees, Reagan, Mason, Harli, Bentley, Boston.
A funeral service will be held at the Morgan Stake Center (355 N. 700 E.) at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 19, 2013. A viewing will be held at the Morgan Stake Center on Friday, October 18 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 11:45 am to 12:45 pm prior to the services. Burial will follow at South Morgan Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the LDS Church Missionary Program.
