Antone Clark Obituary

July 29, 1954-January 18, 2015
Antone Clark, 60, died January 18, 2015, in his home in Layton, Utah.
Antone was born July 29, 1954, the seventh child of Alma and Beth Hanks Clark. He grew up in Burley, Idaho and graduated from high school there in 1972. After serving a mission for the LDS church in Uruguay and Paraguay, he graduated from Ricks College in 1976. He then went on to Brigham Young University, where he also earned a degree in 1978. Antone married Cindy Feickert on December 18, 1976, in the Idaho Falls Temple, and they were blessed with nine children, five boys and four girls.
Active in the LDS faith throughout his life, he served in many church callings ranging from branch president to high councilman to primary teacher. He was also active in family history work for much of his life and authored a number of family books within his greater family. For several years, Antone also headed the Ezra Thompson Clark Family Organization.
A journalist by trade, Antone took pride in meeting deadlines and delight in writing things down. He spent most of his life in the newspaper business and in public and media relations. At one point in 1988, he served as the media relations director for the Hill Cumorah Pageant in Palmyra, New York. Most recently he had worked as a correspondent for the Ogden Standard Examiner and Salt Lake Record, among other publications, covering the Utah State Legislature and communities in Davis and Weber Counties.
He is survived by his wife, father, seven siblings, nine children, and twelve grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Anne, and his mother.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Kays Creek Ward, 2435 East Canyon Rim (1550 North), Layton. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 North Fairfield Road.
In honor of his memory, Antone requested that you be at the service early so the meeting can start on time -- ensuring that at least one more deadline will be met.

Dearest Cindy & family - How I enjoyed our association through the years since 1977. I, too, felt when visiting with Antone he truly wanted to know you and convey back that you were valued. Oh, how he loved to tease! And when he knew you didn't mind, he was relentless. Kerr and I had many sweet moments with him while he was with Mark & Garna. Thank you for sharing him with us! I know he and Kerr on the other side are pulling for us all. The funeral services were amazing - everything shared there is still blessing me, so spirit filled. God bless you all always.

Charles, Dianne and family:
I am so sorry for your loss. Our prayers of comfort and strength are with you. He was still a young man. I'm sure all of his talents were needed. Especially his punctuality! We've all given way to MormonStandardTime, and we probably need to give that up. We miss the Clark family and pray for your continued good health.

For I well know the thoughts that I am thinking toward you. thoughts of peace, and not of calamity, to give you a future and a hope. And you will call me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you." Jeremiah 29:11,12.

I've known my brother-in-law, Tony, since he was 14 years old. I remember him as a fun guy for the most of his life, even when things were not always in his favor.
He did enjoy people and was always curious as to what they were doing in their lives. One might think he was interviewing them for the newspaper's latest edition, when in fact, he was truly interested in them as a person and concerned about their welfare. Yes, some questions were asked to get me fired up because of their teasing nature, but I knew within, he loved my reaction more than the truth. It was all in fun.
He and Cindy and their whole family were always gracious to us and often were more than generous with seeing that we were well taken care of whenever we were out west. Not just for us, but many of our children were treated in like manner and always felt the love and oneness of family there.
Seeing Tony just before and after Christmas recently, I saw a man totally at peace with his fellow man and with his God.It showed in his countenance. I could not detect he had any physical problems. He lived life with a body that steadily deteriorated, but he maintained a great attitude. He made those around him feel loved and I felt that love more than ever when I was in his presence this last time. He was prepared to meet His Maker because I think he understood many of the attributes and sufferings of the Savior. He learned to endure much and to endure it well, bringing happiness to others who were not able to do the same.
His faith, his love, the reflection of the love of God in his countenance, spoke volumes to me. He certainly had an attitude of gratitude in his heart for all and especially the Savior.
I shall miss him very much. He was and still is Tony to me, my fun-loving brother-in-law.
Thank you Tony, Cindy, and famiy for being our relatives, our family, our loved ones.
My condolences and deepest sympathy to you all at this time of great loss.
Sure love you.
