"Kydo"
Helper, UT-Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle, Richard Henry Ariotti, age 98, passed away March 9, 2016 in Price, Utah.
He was born in Castle Gate, Utah on June 22, 1917 to Rocco Pasquale and Albina Giacoma-Rosa Ariotti. Married Roberta E. Duvall, March 15, 1943 in Price, Utah.
Kydo was a lifelong resident of Carbon County. He was a member of the Stella D' America No. 77 where he received a certificate of merit for continuous membership since December 1939.
Proud member of United Mine Workers of America Local 8622 where he worked his entire career at Price River Coal Company in Castle Gate as an armature winder. Kydo enjoyed his work and the people he worked with before retiring in 1979.
He was instrumental in bringing television to Castle Gate which was the second community in Carbon County to have television. Kydo truly believed in family and had a special closeness to his many nieces and nephews, who were like brothers and sisters.
Survived by his wife Roberta, and four children: Dianne (Jim) Mark, Richard A. Ariotti, Carole (Gary) Bowers, and David (Shawnee) Ariotti; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers, Katie (Henry) Etzel, Jennie (Pete) Borla, Rochino (Margaret) Ariotti, Remo (Hannah) Ariotti, Clelia (Gale) Nelson; and two infant siblings, Antonia and Anthony.
Kydo enjoyed working in his shop and especially on his lathe. If he couldn't find a part to fix something he would make just the right part on the lathe. He did not consider himself an artist or an inventor, but he truly was. To say he enjoyed hunting and fishing would be an understatement. He also enjoyed snowmobiling with Mom.
Kydo was a storyteller and an avid joker. He loved to show his talking toys to his grandchildren.
Funeral service, Monday, March 14, 2016, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main, Price, Utah). Visitation Sunday evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment, Mt.
