Alfred Booth

Alfred Giles Booth passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at the age of 87, after a brief and sudden illness. Al was born June 20, 1925 in San Antonio, TX to Walter B. and Marcella Giles Booth. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-daughter Donna Baker, and two infant children. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Maureen; sons: Fred (Debora) of CA; Marc of Dallas and Jeff (Melinda) Baker of San Antonio. Other survivors include his twin brother, Walter B. Booth, Jr. (Dorothea) of Comfort, and sister, Milby Booth Wade of Rockport; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Al was a 1943 graduate of Alamo Heights High School and served in the Merchant Marines during WWII from 1943 until honorably discharged in August 1945. His passion was playing handball and other fitness activities at the YMCA. Throughout his youth and adult life, he enjoyed life at the family ranch, Hillingdon, near Comfort. After many years in the finance and banking business, he retired in 1987 from National Bank of Commerce as an Assistant Vice President in the Loan Department. The family would also like to thank the Medical Staff at North Central Baptist Hospital for the outstanding care and support of Al, particularly the Intensive Care Unit ~ they went above and beyond.
