Alfred Fullwood

Chief Master Sergeant (CMSGT) Alfred (AL) F. Fullwood, USAF (Ret.) our beloved father and grandfather passed away Monday, July 15th, 2013. He was born in Conway, S.C. to Alfonzo and Agnes Jollie Fullwood. Al's wife Hazel preceded him in death. He and Hazel had made their residence in San Antonio, TX. Al retired in 1975 from the USAF with 30 years of Military Service. The first two years was spent in the Navy. He was a Decorated Veteran of WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and participated in the Berlin Airlift operations. His last 16 years of military service was in the United States Air Force Security Services (USAFSS). Al was the first enlisted man to receive the Air Force's fifth highest medal "The Legion of Merit" during his time of service. After serving in the Military for 30 years, AL obtained a college degree and worked as a sole proprietor in the restaurant business and was employed at a local credit union until he retired in 1985. He was an active member of Somerset Masonic Lodge No. 1205 A.F. & A.M., The San Antonio Scottish Rite, and the York Rite of Freemasonry, The OMALA GROTTO, and the San Antonio High Club No. 656, Somerset Chapter No. 730 of the Order of the Eastern Star and The ALZAFAR Shrine. Al held several offices of the Grand Lodge of Texas, such as Grand Senior Deacon in 1998, Regional Coordinator for San Antonio and a District Instructor in the year 2000. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with all of the grandchildren. Al is survived by his four loving daughters, Harte (Linda) Sawtelle, Susan Bleich and husband, Robert Bleich, Cindy Hammerling and husband, Mark Hammerling, Donna Duke and husband, Allen Duke Sr.; five granddaughters, Michelle Muennink and husband, Timothy Muennink, Jennifer Escobedo and husband, Reuben Escobedo, Stephanie Bleich, Julie Ritchie and husband, John Ritchie, and Mandy Albers and husband, Edward Albers; nine great-grandchildren, Makenzie and Mason Muennink, Nikolaus, Rhys and Myles Escobedo, Blake, Cole, John Robert Ritchie and Benson Albers; brother, Charles Fullwood and sister, Daisy Dean Scott. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Porter Loring on McCullough Ave.
