Alice Sanchez Adame joined our heavenly Father on November 8, 2011, at the age of 91. Alice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born on October 11, 1920, in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico but lived all of her life in San Antonio. Alice grew up in a large and loving family. She was born one of six children to Adela P. and Juan Z. Sanchez. Her family included four brothers and one sister. Her father operated a bakery and fruit stand in San Antonio, where she learned to love business. She graduated from Brackenridge High School in San Antonio, and went on to have a career in retail, managing dress stores, and then fulfilling her desire of owning her own gift shop. She loved working and was very much a people person, always making time to chat with her customers. Alice was also involved in her church, volunteering on Saturday afternoons to pray in the Adoration Chapel at St. Matthew's parish for many years. She was lovingly nicknamed "Licha" by her parents and siblings, and known as "Tia Licha" by her numerous nieces and nephews. Her oldest granddaughter very affectionately called her "Nanny", which she is still referred to by her grandchildren, their spouses and friends, and great-grandchildren to the present day. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Adela P. and Juan Z. Sanchez; four brothers, Anastacio P. (Tacho) Sanchez, Pedro Sanchez, Raul Sanchez, and Joe P. Sanchez; she is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Joe H. Adame, two daughters, Lorraine Faye Ruiz and husband Jesse, Mary Ann Canedy and husband Lawrence; three grandchildren, Kimberlee Dennis Brysch and husband Andrew, Aimee Dennis Wauters and husband Steven, Jason F. Dennis and fiancée Samantha Tercero; five great-grandchildren, Drew and Jack Brysch, Allison and Abigail Wauters, and Jason Dennis, Jr; one sister, Concepcion (Concha) Jimenez and husband Albert of Houston, TX; one sister-in-law, Braulia (Lala) Sanchez of San Antonio, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Alice's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff of Trisun Care Center Wurzbach, most especially the nursing staff in C-Wing who all took such tender and loving care of her for the past few years, and also to the nursing staff of Vitas Hospice of San Antonio who gently tended to her in her final days. Visitation will be Sunday, November 13, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Porter Loring.
