Apolonia (Pauline) Muniz Mata, age 89, of San Antonio, died peacefully Monday, November 4, 2013 with her family by her side. Apolonia was born on February 9, 1924 in D'Hanis Texas. She was a loving wife, mother, and aunt. Apolonia was a dedicated worker, saver and very ambitious. She loved her family, and was always there to lend a helping hand to everyone. She loved to travel with family every year and family gatherings on Christmas eve to make homemade tamales. She enjoyed dancing and listening to her sons music. Retired from Miller Curtain Company after 45 years, she then joined her sister in a drapery business making window treatments for cliental including Spurs basketball players and coaches and many interior decorators. She was a nocturnal Adoration at St. Paul's Catholic Church, healing prayers at St. Agnes for many years, Ladies Auxiliary-Cleto Rodriguez VFW
Post 8842. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Carlos L. Mata; daughter, Barbara Mata Menchaca (Joe); son, Carlos Fernando Mata; sister, Maria Muniz Rodriguez; and brother, Leopoldo Muniz and wife, Frances and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 10, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
