Charles Clayton

The Heart and Strength of our Family - loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Charles Robert "Chuck" Clayton, went to be with his sweetheart Julia on Friday, December 27, 2013 at the age of 82. Chuck was born in Pennsylvania, joined the Air Force, served in Korea, was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, settled in San Antonio with his family in 1969 and retired as MSGT in 1970. He began a 2nd career as a printer and retired from Trinity University in 1995. He also enjoyed his membership as a Colonel in the Centex Wing of the Confederate Air Force. He was preceded in death by Julia, his beloved wife of 53 years, his mother Lillian, step-father Ed, and sister Mae. He is survived by all of his children, Karen and husband Bob, Kathy and husband Ron, Laurie and husband James, Lois, Lisa and husband Wayne, and Annie and husband George; his brother Ed and sisters Ethel and Ann; grandchildren Nicole, Thomas, Sarah, Nathan, Emily, Krishna, David, Juliana, Darian, Christopher, Jessica, Melissa, Cherie, Jimmy, Michael, Stephanie, Clayton and Sarah, as well as 25 great-grandchildren, numerous niecesand nephews, and many very special friends. He was a gentle, soft-spoken man who lived his life with integrity and honor and passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for, and loved.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Chuck's name to the Centex Wing of the Commemorative Air Force in San Marcos.
