Columba Alarcon, 79, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2009, in San Antonio. She was born in Tlaxcala, Mexico, on December 31, 1929, to Carlos and Josefina Martinez. A member of St. Joseph's for 25 years, Columba was a lifetime member of the Bluebirds, Guadalupanas, and Catholic Daughters, and was also an avid Bunco club member. She lived for her husband and family. She was preceded in death by a son, Bulmaro Alarcon, Jr.; and a brother, Carlos Martinez. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Bulmaro; 2 sons, Edward Alarcon and wife Darlene, and Marco Alarcon and wife Amy; a daughter, Carol Gise and husband Peter; a brother, Jorge Alfonso Martinez and wife Martha; and 12 grandchildren, Edward Daniel, Stephen Robert, Michael Anthony, Monica Darlene, Sophia, and Lily Alarcon, Brian and Melissa Rundle, Sarah and Jeff Gise, and Amanda and Phillip Alarcon. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 16, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
