Cruz (Bampo) Martinez

MARTINEZ
Our beloved Father and Grandfather Cruz (Bampo) Martinez, born 9/14/1929 in Thelma, TX, went peacefully surrounded by family, to live with our Lord on March 8, 2013 at the age of 84 years. He was preceded in death by his Sister Virginia (Kina) Cantu, Father Sostenes Martinez, Sr., Mother Virginia Martinez and Little Sister Gloria Martinez. He is survived by his Wife of 59 years, Marjorie Davis Martinez and his children, Alice and husband Reyes Alvarado, Arthur and wife Maria Martinez, John and wife Betty Martinez, Barbara Aguirre, Robert and wife Yvonne Martinez. He has 9 grandchildren: Maxine, Veronica, Pablo, John Ross, Rose, Jake, JoAnn, Anthony, Jessica, and 9 great grandchildren: John Eric, Isaac, Madison, CJ, Andrea, Little Vito, Meah, JJ, and Lilliana who is on the way. Brothers, Sostenes(Tote)Martinez, Jr., Emilio Martinez, Ramon Martinez and Sister Nancy(Nena)Cantu and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He honorably served his country from 1951 to 1953 in the US Army, fighting in the Korean War. He started his career as a Barber at the Officers Club at Lackland Air Force Base, and expanded to Fort Sam Houston Army Post and Brooks Air Force Base. After serving his country, he owned and operated "Cruz's Barber Shop" for 60 years.
SERVICES
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 beginning at 5:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel (El Carmen) Catholic Church with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 P.M. A Procession will depart Brookehill Funeral Home Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 9:15 A.M. for a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel (El Carmen) Catholic Church at 10:00 A.M.
