Doyle Bramhall died in his sleep, of natural causes, at his home in Alpine, Texas, on November 13, 2011. Doyle, 62, was born February 17, 1949, in Dallas, Texas. Doyle had a long, successful career as a singer, songwriter, and drummer. He moved to Austin with his young family in the early '70s and was an integral part of the burgeoning live music scene. Doyle was preceded in death by parents, Francis and Lonnie "D" Bramhall; sister, Shirley Watson; and brother, Ronnie Bramhall. He is survived by wife, Barbara; son, Doyle Bramhall II; daughter, Georgia Bramhall, and their mother, Linda Cannon; twin brother, Dale Bramhall; step-children, Jim Winn, Chris Hunter, and Logan Hunter-Thompson; grandchildren, Sophia Bramhall-Jordan, Martin Doyle Bramhall III, India and Elle Bramhall; Will, Tatum and Marigold Hunter; Gracie and Mae Thompson; and Sunny and Morgan Winn. He is also survived by his niece, nephews, and numerous cousins.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, November 21, 2011 in the Chapel of Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N Lamar Blvd, Austin. There will be a celebration of Doyle's life at Antone's, 213 W. 5th, starting at 4 p.m., Monday, November 21. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to one of the following organizations:
