Edwin James Olenick Jr.

LCDR Edwin James Olenick, Jr. USN (ret) passed away suddenly on March 11, 2013 at the age of 50. He was born on October 16, 1962 in San Antonio, TX to the late Edwin J. Olenick, Sr. and Gayle Connell Olenick. He is survived by his wife Susan Smith Olenick, step-daughter Jennifer Cronin and husband Nick, granddaughter Alexandra of Boston, MA; sister Sherry Hultsman and her husband David of Houston, TX. Ed graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with Honors. He was commissioned as an officer in the US Navy and later received his designation as a Nuclear Engineer. He served on the USS Whale and the USS Tennessee, receiving commendations throughout his career. After retiring as a LCDR, Ed was recruited to the Joint Forces Command as Deputy Director of the Information Operations Range, and more recently to the Threat Systems Management Office as Deputy Director. Throughout Ed's career, he gave 100% and was extremely well respected and valued. Ed will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of being a part of his life. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 16th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Porter Loring on McCullough.
