Felix Colmenares, Jr.
On November 30, 2013, our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather went to be with his Lord. Felix was born on December 22, 1921 in Houston, Texas to Felix and Esperanza Colmenares. Felix was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Edna Patterson Colmenares in 2005. He is survived by two sons, Pat and Don, two daughters-in-law; Nancy Newton Colmenares and Sharon Rentz Colmenares, three granddaughters; Denise Schumann, Andrea Oldmixon, Christie Ahart and their husbands; and soon to be ten great grandchildren. Felix was a long-time resident of Brownsville, Texas, but spent the last period of his earthly life in San Antonio.
Felix grew up in Houston, Texas and then graduated from North Texas State University in 1947, attending on a tennis and basketball scholarship. He served in World War II
as a Marine Corps officer and was part of the Japan Occupation Forces. He was later called back to the Marines to serve during the Korean War
until 1952. He worked for Sears Roebuck for 26 years, retired in 1973, then taught at Texas Southmost College. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and served the Lord in many different capacities. He was an avid golfer and loved participating in and viewing sports of all kinds.
