Frances McElroy

Frances Walker McElroy, age 96, died March 4, 2013 in San Antonio, TX surrounded by her family. Born August 14, 1916 in Halls, TN, Frances and her family eventually settled in Texas, where she earned a business degree from Mary Hardin Baylor. She married Bill Walker in 1938 and raised three children in Waxahachie, TX. She then returned to college and taught high school math and science. Following Bill's passing in 1976, Frances met and married Lt Col. Perry McElroy in November of 1979 and enjoyed nearly 25 years of marriage before his death in May of 2004. She enjoyed all types of handiwork, Bridge, and Mahjong throughout her life, especially with her friends at Air Force Village I. She was preceded in death by her brother, William Utley and sister, Jane Carroll. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Anne Van Eaton (Paul), Bill Walker (Mary), and Bob Walker (Caryn). Also missing her are 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and two sisters, Peggy Redwine and Mickey Reed.
