Gerald Mazur

Gerald (Jerry) Mazur, 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 22, 2013. He was born on December 6, 1919 in San Antonio, Texas to Janet and Isadore Mazur. He was a graduate of San Antonio Academy and Texas Military Institute and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin. Upon graduation, he served as a commissioned officer in the US Army during WWII. He was stationed at Camp Fannin in Tyler, Texas where he met Elinor, his lifelong love and his wife of 69 years. His early career started as an insurance agent with Aetna where he was a consistent top producer. Jerry began his entrepreneurial involvement in several companies, co-founding and serving as CEO of Datapoint Corporation and Advanced Tobacco Products. A passionate conservationist, Jerry was a co-founder of the Gulf Coast Conservation Association (GCCA), now the CCA. Jerry was active in managing fisheries at his second love, Blue Wing Club, and was also instrumental in stocking the Guadalupe River with trout. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying bird hunting and fishing with his father from the time he was a child. Jerry was a caring son and son-in-law. He was a devoted husband to Elinor, father to Janis and Diane, grandfather to Beth, Kerri, Jonny and Rebecca and great grandfather to Ben, Ava, Mila, Grant and Lucy. He was a great provider and protector of his family and will be greatly missed by all who loved him, including his caregivers Elaine, Dean, Wayne and Belinda.
