Guadalupe C. Nieto went to be with the Lord on July 17, 2014 at the age of 94. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Amelia Nieto and grandson, Jose Angel Nieto. He proudly served his country in the Army's 38th Field Artillery Battalion during WWII
in Rhineland Northern France and Normandy Ardennes Central Europe. He received a purple heart
with one oak leaf cluster and EAME Campaign Medal with five bronze stars
and a good conduct medal with clasp for his service. After his honorable discharge from the Army he began his second career at Kelly AFB at the 1827th EIS. During that time he met his wife Amelia and married her after a brief courtship. Together they raised three children and traveled the world to wherever the 1827th EIS sent him. After his retirement from the 1827th he continued to travel with his wife and growing family which now included grandchildren. Being a grandfather was his true calling - he never missed a birthday, sporting or school event. After the loss of his beloved wife in 2008, he continued to travel and surrounded himself with family. The greatest gift that he gave to his friends and family was the love and affection that he had for them. He will be truly missed but not forgotten. Funeral Mass will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, July 21, 2014 at 8:30 am, Internment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
