Helen "Jane" Harrison, 78, of San Antonio, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2013 following a long illness. Jane was born to Helen and Denny C. Keetch on December 27, 1934 in Belton, Texas. Jane attended Belton High School where she was very involved in student life, including playing in the band and serving as a majorette. Following graduation, she attended the University of Texas
and was an active member of the Tri Delta sorority. The friendships of her youth remained strong throughout her life. While Jane was still in high school, she met the love of her life, Joe C. "J.C." Harrison. Their courtship continued through college where they were married on April 30, 1955; the beginning of a 58 year love affair. Jane remembered that their grades improved dramatically after they tied the knot. Through their union they were blessed with three wonderful children, daughters Teri Wright and Lisa Bliss, both of San Antonio, and a son, Joseph Hunter Harrison of Greensboro, N.C. Jane's memory is also cherished by her sister, Johny Allison; daughter-in-law, Mary Lee Harrison; son-in-law, Mark Bliss and her three grandchildren, Jason Harrison, Evan Bliss and Sarah Bliss. Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Denny and Helen Keetch and her brother Jack Keetch. Jane devoted her life to the care and support of her family. She reached beyond the family to enrich the lives of others by volunteering at church and Morningside Manor as well as supporting both her children and many others through her work with the Boy and Girl Scouts and substitute teaching. In 1973, Jane and Joe purchased a small Honda motorcycle dealership in San Antonio, where they worked side by side for thirty five years. Through their dedication and hard work, the tiny store-front dealership on Broadway moved to a much larger facility and grew into one of the most successful multi-line dealerships in south Texas. Jane and Joe's mutual devotion to each other, their family, business employees and so many loyal customers made these years some of the most fulfilling in their lives. In her later years, Jane fell in love with the game of golf and also enjoyed sailing adventures to many far shores with Joe in their trawler, "Honey Island". Jane was a great first mate, both on the boat and in life. There is not a single person whose life Jane touched who does not remember her with much affection and admiration. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Teresa Duncan with Visiting Angels and Beth Horton with Odyssey Hospice. Your gentle, loving care for Jane these past two years will touch our lives forever. Now she has crossed over the river to rest under the shade of the trees. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. at Porter Loring Mortuary, 2102 North Loop 1604 East.
