James DeVage

Retired Army Lt. Col. James "Jimmy" DeVage, 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 in San Antonio, TX. He was born on August 12, 1921 in Homestead, PA to Speros and Efterpy Devedzes. In 1949 he married Viola Lock; he was widowed in 1989. Jimmy retired from the U.S. Army in 1971, having served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He received numerous awards and decorations, the most notable being the Bronze Star and Silver Star. In 1973, Jimmy went to work for the IRS and retired from there in 1989. In 1994 he re-married to Queta Corona. He was named "Whistleblower of the Year" in 2005 for helping to recover over $345 million for America's taxpayers. In 2006, the Reading High School Alumni Association named Jimmy an Outstanding Alumnus. Jimmy is survived by his wife Queta DeVage, his sisters Stella Ninfo and Mary D. Harris, his son Alex DeVage and wife Tracy, his daughter Jaymie Derden and husband Paul, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation for family and friends will be held at 11:00am on Monday, December 2nd, 2013 at the chapel at Mission Park North Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Disabled American Veterans at PO Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
