Jean Martin

Retired teacher Jean Ann Baldwin Martin passed away on January 31, 2014, in Corpus Christi. She was born in 1926 in San Antonio to parents Paul G. Baldwin and Alma Cross Baldwin. She was the granddaughter of Dr. J.G. Baldwin of San Antonio. Mrs. Martin attended Jefferson High School in San Antonio, where she was a member of the Cadet Corps. She received her BA degree from Trinity University and her MA degree from St. Mary's University, both in San Antonio. She taught school in San Antonio, where she met her husband, James Leslie Martin, and also in Corpus Christi (Fraser and Coles Elementary), where she retired from teaching. Mrs. Martin enjoyed watching Women's slow-pitch softball, riding roller coasters, playing bridge, and reading. She was an avid square dancer and attended most state and national conventions with her husband. She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and the Texas Retired Teachers Association. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is survived by cousins and friends. Services will be private in San Antonio with burial in Mission Burial Park South.
