Jimmy Keyes

Loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Jimmy Warren Keyes, age 78, went to be with his Heavenly Father on November 28 after a long illness.

Jimmy was born in 1934 to Helen and Marion Keyes and reared at Clip Ranch, Goliad County, Texas. He was a graduate of Goliad High School and Baylor University with a BBA in Accounting. He also had a graduate degree from The University of Wisconsin at Madison in Bank Administration. Jim was an only child and his parents were extremely proud of his earning , an advanced education. Jim worked throughout his life in banking and related fields. When not working he was committed to the Optimist Club of San Antonio and to Boysville, Inc. He served multiple leadership positions within these organizations for approximately 40 years. Jim also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing tennis. He shot his first deer when he was just 7 years old. In addition, Jim was very active in the formation of his home church, The Fellowship of San Antonio, and had many dear friends there.

Jim is survived by his wife of 51 years, Anita Anderson Keyes, and children, Brian Keyes, MD and Shelley Keyes Kim, MD. Jim also leaves behind 5 adoring granddaughters: Hannah, Caroline, Ella, Sophie and Grace.

Jim's life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Sunday, December 2, at 2:00 pm in the Wilson Chapel at First Baptist Church, San Antonio, on McCullough and 4th St., using the 4th St. entrance. Presenting the eulogy will be retired General David McIlvoy, assisted by Rev. Ron Hill. A reception and visitation with the family will be held following the service at the church.
