CMS John M. Maxwell, USAF (ret.) passed away in San Antonio, Texas. John was born on December 12, 1928 to the late John M. Maxwell and Isabel D'Evelyn Maxwell in Chicago, Illinois. A sister, Jean Maxwell Cassins, predeceased him. Survivors include, his wife Hannah "Betty"; daughters, Pamela Maxwell and Sarah Briddell; several nieces and nephews. John graduated from high school in Lanark, Illinois and attended Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. He joined the Air Force in 1950, receiving basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. After 30 years of active duty, he returned to San Antonio in 1981 to work at Kelly Air Force Base. He served in Florida, Oklahoma, Alaska, Vermont, Maine Colorado, Korea, Virginia and Ramstein Air Base in Germany. John was universally well-liked and loved to tease and play jokes on friends. He enjoyed mornings at the gym for both exercising and socializing. After retirement, he treated himself and Betty to his favorite pastime, cruising. John will be remembered at a Memorial at Porter Loring Mortuary North on Saturday, February 22, 2014, from 2:00-4:00 pm.
